So ...you have a great new invention idea. Maybe it’s a fantastic new product or
a big improvement on an existing one. You just know it’ll be a great success, and
that your new invention idea could even be the Next Big Thing!
Well, first the good news ... this is a greatstart. Now the not so good news ...
this is a great START!
Can you sell new invention ideas?
Please don’t be discouraged, but you must understand this: New invention ideas are
NOT the same as new inventions. Rather they are the starting point for them!
A new invention is the result of turning a new invention idea into something physical
which functions as intended. To successfully sell it therefore, although it needn’t
be a finished product (it can be a crude working prototype, see patent licensing)
... it does have to be waaaay more than just a new invention idea.
So, the answer to the question: “Can you sell new invention ideas?” .... is regrettably
almost always NO. And the reason? The real skill is not simply coming up with the
idea, but then making it work in a way that is:
preferably legally protectable (e.g. patentable)
Once you have done this, you can indeed sell or license your new invention idea for
serious money ... IF you know what you are doing. Regrettably however, most people
don’t. This site is all about making sure that you do!
